STAR Plus’ popular primetime soap, Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai celebrates its success as it soars on the ratings chart week after week. Poised as the Numero Uno show on television today, Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai launched on October 8, 2007. A simple yet intriguing story of two sisters faced with societal pressures because of their skin colour, the show has won accolades by the viewers in less than a year of its launch.

What started off as a modest story of a beautiful girl, Sadhana (Sara Khan) whose beauty overshadows her sister, Ragini’s (Parul Chauhan) dark complexion, Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai today has achieved many milestones with the show rating an average 6.3 TVRs as per the latest TAM research data (Week 32/2008).

Story so far…
Hailing from a humble, middle class background, an orphaned Sadhana (Sara Khan) lived with her Mama (Alok Nath), Mami (Vibha Chibber) and her dark complexioned cousin sister Ragini (Parul Chauhan). Sadhana’s beauty was always perceived as a threat when it came to finding a suitable match for Ragini. On the other hand, the relationship between Sadhna and Ragini blossomed into a beautiful bond as they were inseparable and stood for each other in tough times. Eventually, Sadhna gets married to a retarded Alekh (Angad Hasija) on the condition that Alekh’s younger brother Ranvir (Kinshuk Mahajan) will marry Ragini.

Unfortunately, Ranvir returns to India with his girlfriend Sonia in tow, and hence the promise of Ragini and Ranvir’s marriage is dishonoured. Soon Soniya’s malicious intentions are revealed and she moves out of Ranvir’s life paving the way for Ragini again. Incidentally, Ranvir and Ragini bump into each other mysteriously over an accidental phone call and unknowingly fall in love with each other and a new, innocent, story begins.

Story ahead…
Sadhna is shocked to know that destiny has brought Ragini and Ranvir back together but is in a dilemma about disclosing Ragini’s real identity to Ranvir for fear of rejection. She decides to give Ranvir a chance to know Ragini as a soul mate before revealing Ragini’s true identity to him.

As love blossoms between Ranvir and Ragini, they get increasingly anxious to meet each other but Ragini’s innermost fear of being rejected for her dark color comes alive once again. Ragini relents and agrees to meet Ranvir. She calls him to watch her perform at the TAJ MAHOTSAV. Ranvir is elated at the turn of events while Ragini spends anxious moments pondering over her destiny.

Will Ranvir accept her despite her dark colour or will this beautiful relationship breathe its last? Will Ragini’s hunt for a soul mate end here or will her physical appearance prove dampener again?

In a special series “Green Heroes”, HSBC, the world’s local bank and CNN-IBN, India’s best English news channel are joining hands to bring innovative work of individuals and organizations, who came up with the ideas beyond the regular activities for environment conservation. The next four episodes of Green Heroes feature simple innovations and initiatives which made a radical difference in the lives of people.” Green Heroes” brings forth people like Madhav, a fourteen year school boy from Mumbai who, understood the importance of Mangroves trees to save the city from floods and started sensitizing people about saving the species. Vijay Jardhari, who has been reviving traditional seeds of India to grow without chemicals,also conducts workshops on sustainable and organic agriculture.

Vimla Bahuguma, wife of great environmentalist Sunderla Bahuguna who gave momentum to Chipko movement by bringing larger participation of women and walked shoulder to shoulder with Sunder Lal Ji during the campaign. Nita Shah, a wild life biologist who is putting her endeavors to save the world’s most powerful scavengers, the vultures and sensitizing masses about their importance in the cycle of ecosystems. Madhu Bhatnagar, the green teacher who charted out an environment education policy so that young minds can be educated on environmental issues.

The 3rd Task is given to Raja where they have to make pairs (One Girl – One Boy) and dance on the paper with their respective partners…and Raja is suppose to be the judge to the paper dance but Sanjay Nirupam refuses to do the task and requests everyone including Bigg Boss that he can’t do something like this…Bigg Boss calls Raja and agrees to the request and tells Raja to interchange their roles…The pairs were Sambhavana with Zulfi, Alina with Debojit,Monika with Rahul, Payal with Ahsaan, Ketki with Aashutosh and Rakhi with Raj.

Payal and Ahsaan were the first pair who failed to do the task, while Rakhi and Raja were the winners. Bigg Boss gives the first warning to Rahul Mahajan that if Rahul instigates the housemates to revolt against the rules and forces them to remove their mikes if they don’t get cigarettes…He will be automatically nominated for eviction.

The Rock fever empowers Amul Star Voice of India this Saturday as the ‘Rock On’ team –Farhaan Akhtar and Purab Kohli grace the ‘Scoring Saturday’s’ performance round on the show.

The high tension episode on Friday where Ismail walked out after a shocking elimination on the show encouraged Shaan to ask him what went wrong and why the public is reacting this way. Ismail with no explanation requested the public to listen to the kids with their hearts and not with their minds.

‘Farhan Akhtar’

With Farhaan and Purab talking about the film Rock On, Shaan introduced the theme for the episode as Rock Music. All the contestants had prepared Rock songs to impress the judges. The first contestant to present his claim to TOP 9 was Ryan Dias, the Voice of Andhra Pradesh who sang Rishtey. Farhan thought that this was a fantastic performance and said that Ryan held the promise of lasting for long in the show. Purab really liked Ryan’s performance and his hairstyle too! Sukhi felt that Ryan delivered more than what was expected. With an incredible headstart, the stage saw each performance being far superior than the previous one as Saptaparna the Voice of 7 sister states, sang Johnny Gaddar.

Just before Zakir’s performance there was tension as Ismail Received a note from Zakir’s family. Ismail said that Zakir’s family was trying to bribe him. He handed a letter to Shaan. Shaan read it out and it turned out that Zakir’s son had written a letter to Ismail asking him to make his father the Voice of India so that Zakir could buy him a cycle. An emotional and apologetic Ismail promised to buy his son a cycle. Zakir said that he was really sad because he couldn’t run behind the cycle because of his disability.

Zakir Hussain the Voice of Chattisgarh sang Aaja aaja main hoon Pyar tera and received a standing ovation from the audience; Monty told him that there was no need to worry as Zakir was flying thanks to his brilliant singing.

Ritisha, the voice of Bangalore mesmerized audience with his rendition of Gustakhiyaan hai, She also requested Farhan to sing his titkle track from Rock On for them. A very sporting Farhaan just reeled the song with much ease and rocked the Amul Star Voice of India Stage. Purab also joined in with the famous ‘Rock On’ number.

Ravi, the Voice of Delhi performed on Aap ki Dua, Sayantani, the voice from Orissa sang Dum Maro Dum, Rohit, the voice of 7 sister states got the crowd to groove with O meri Jaan, Vinti, the voice of Uttar Pradesh impressed the judges and Farhan with her recital of Mast, Rahul Mukherjee from Maharashtra sang Alvida and Vipul, the voice of Punjab gave a mind-blowing performance from Farhan’s movie Dil Chahta Hai. Purab told Vipul that “Last ball par sixer maare to bahut accha lagta hai…par agar sixer maarne waala Punjab se ho to ball stadium se bahar chali jaayegi”
